Taipei Coffee Walk: Songshan District

**The information in this post has been migrated to a new blog: https://shenchingtou.github.io/maps/taipei-coffee/ This post will be deleted by the end of 2020 as will all the individual cafe reviews.**

A shortlist of independent coffee roasters and coffee shops in Taipei’s Songshan District. Notes are by an amateur coffee enthusiast and shoestring digital nomad. All the places listed I have been to. Usually, coffee comes first and remote-work suitability comes second.

How to read this coffee list:

These are independent cafes in Taipei that I have personally visited and liked. Below, you will find a photo of the cafe space, a brief profile of what they offer, and the location on Google Maps.

All of these cafes are within walking distance. The maximum distance is about 30 minutes from another cafe on the list and includes a relaxing walk through the leafy residential streets of Songshan District. For light travellers, you can consider walking directly out of Songshan Airport to try a place like Woolloomooloo or Coffee Essentials.

You will also find a coffee walk map at the bottom of this post that has all the cafes listed and other well-respected places. You can pre-load this map onto your phone and it works offline as long as you don’t restart it. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment! Happy tasting!

  1. Loved Yan and Coco’s, which I visited often, during my 2015 month-long visit to Taipei. Yan has published a number of touristic and art books (that are on a shelf in the shop) and he and I bonded over one of them. I often went at night, just before closing, to pick up discounted baguettes which I had the next morning in my nearby hostel with Laughing Cow cheese. This couple lived for more than a decade, I believe, in Toronto. Never very crowded in my experience, and less distracting and crowded than some other nearby student restaurants, like the Picnic. Also loved all the other coffee shops in Taipei that you visited and wrote about. Well-worth visiting them next time (hopefully) I’m in Taipei.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed your time in Taipei and like Yan and Coco’s! Yes, I agree it is not nearly as busy as many other popular places close by and is a refreshing place to work out of. As you’d mentioned, they both speak great English because they’d lived in Canada for some years.
